The Rake-A-Thon was kicked off on Friday, September 29th and students brought home packets filled with information! The Rake-A-Thon is an all-school community service project AND fundraiser. Students ask for pledges/donations from neighbors, friends and family for the service they will perform in the community. We rake yards for seniors, the disabled, veterans and people who are unable to do their own yard work.
This year’s Rake-A-Thon will take place on Saturday, October 28th , rain or shine. We will be starting with Mass at 8:00 a.m., followed by a group photo of our entire team before we depart to our assigned yards. Once our assigned yards are completed, we will return to school and rake the school and church grounds until lunch is served. The Knights of Columbus will then coordinate additional volunteers for the caravan pick-up of all bags that are hauled to the compost site.
Volunteers are needed to rake: We need as many parents as possible for this event. Please fill out and return the RSVP form (in the student packet), and check your Virtus account status at www.virtus.org. Trucks and trailers for hauling leaves: If you are able to help with leaf pick-up and/or you have a vehicle or trailer that we can use, contact Geri Cox at 763-232-0897, [email protected].
Many thanks to the Rake-a-thon Committee for all of their work preparing for our upcoming event. They have been busy preparing the student packets, obtaining prizes, coordinating and ordering t-shirts, decorating our halls and much more! Thank you to Gayle McMullen, Nicole Antrican, Doug Dennington, Katelyn Hochstatter, Sawyer Arnold, Adriana Menza Ricon and Scarlett Dennington for decorating our Rake-a-thon display case in the main hallway.
We hope to see everyone on October 28th!
Parents – For the success of our annual Rake-A-Thon, we would love as many families who can participate to participate. In order to help organize our efforts, please click HERE to access the RSVP form. The form can be emailed to [email protected] , dropped off to any teacher at school, dropped off to Mrs. Inniger as the reception desk at school, or placed into the offering basket at any Mass.
Hopefully all students are actively seeking pledges and donations for our school. Our first money turn-in date was this past Monday (9th), we still have a long way to go to hit our goal!! Please continue working with your students to help them seek pledges and donations for our school. Please review the packet that was sent home last Friday and return the R.S.V.P. form as soon as possible . The number of people we are able to serve is dependent upon how many families can participate. We will need every parent that we can get to help us on that day; if you think that you are physically unable to rake, we can still use your help! This event is one of the most significant events of the school year on many levels. Please join us for this wonderful event!
We need as many E-3 volunteers as possible for this event. Contact: Geri Cox at 763-232-0897, [email protected] if you are able to volunteer to help the Rake-a-thon committee. We also have a great need for parents with trucks and trailers to assist the Knight of Columbus with leaf bag pick-up.
Monday is a Rake-a-thon T-shirt day and that’s a reminder ~ Don’t forget to put Rake-a-thon cash, checks, and money-turn in slips in your child’s backpacks! There are great prizes for the students to win. Be sure to make up a list of friends and family for your student(s) to call. It is easier than you think. This weekend will be a great time to obtain pledges by knocking on neighborhood doors. The money turn-in slips and a pledge sheet are located in the orange Rake-a-thon packet that went home with your students last Friday. Please help our school to make our goal of $25,000!
