A quality Physical Education program is vital to our general well being in our everyday lives. It is the phase of general education that assists in the total growth and development of each child, primarily through selective movement experiences and physical activities.
In our gym classroom, a healthy body brings a healthy mind. We intend to guide the heart, the soul, the body, and the mind through our physical actions. Our K-8 curriculum is based on the Spark (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) Education Program. This program was initiated as a counter to heart disease and to help promote a healthy lifestyle in our students’ everyday lives. Spark classes are very active and the major focus is help promote physical activity, skill building, and to increase large and small motor skills in the classroom.
Spark education has pre-planned activities with a scope and sequence written into each instructional unit and in each one of our daily lesson plans. Spark was written to comply with most Physical Education Frameworks.
