Have you seen the fire boots in school? Has your child asked you about donating to the fire boots? Are you wondering why? It is a very exciting fundraiser our Student Council is doing to support Firefighters for Healing (FF4H) . They are a local organization that assists kids and families after they have survived a fire. FF4H provides money and supplies to kids when they need it most. They are partnered with the HCMC burn unit and have a family room of toys, clothes, dressing changes and necessities for surviving a fire while keeping hope alive. For the first time ever in Minnesota, FF4H will be hosting and funding a week long camp in Cross Lake, MN for children survivors. FF4H pays for all expenses for one week so kids can be kids again and swim and play without worry about scars, limitations or medical needs.
Now, to the boots. Katie Rengel, 8th Grader is supporting the organization and trying to raise enough money to fund one camper’s expenses. That is $1000. She has been so enthusiastic that she has 2 (not 1, but TWO) anonymous matching donation sponsors. If the school raises $500, the two matching donors will contribute $500 each and that will equal 1½ children going to Minnesota’s fully staffed burn camp. So exciting! Please consider donating change, small bills, anything. It all goes to the greater good.
