Friday 12/18

December 18th, 2009

Happy Friday!! Over break please remember to spend time reading with your child (or they can read on their own) and to play! If you haven’t been in the snow, played a game of cards, checkers, or other game not on a computer, I hope you can find the time to do so. May the spirit of Christ fill you with peace and hope this Christmas! God Bless You!

Thurs. 12/17

December 17th, 2009

Homework: math 64B. Thanks to our parent chaperones! The play was fun and very colorful. Ask your child who or what they liked best! Tomorrow we have mass, and hopefully the cold will stay away so we can play outside. We went out today after our late lunch and it was beautiful. It has been a crazy week!

Wed. 12/16

December 16th, 2009

Homework: math 62B and fact sheet 63A & B. Tomorrow is library; please return books. Field trip reminder: bring lunch from home. We will order bag lunches for those who forget. Tomorrow is green/red day for $1.00. Friday afternoon I am having a small celebration with treats and juice, and we will watch a video of the Nativity. In your childs folder is the magazine drive information. Although it does not begin until January, some may choose to get started over the holidays. Have a good night and God Bless!

Tuesday 12/15

December 15th, 2009

Homework: math 62B. I’m noticing many stuffy noses and coughs again, and just the “I don’t feel very good” face. Three more days – we can do it! No spelling words/test this week. We are writing and reviewing instead. Stay warm!

Monday 12/14

December 14th, 2009

Homework: math worksheet. It’s the third week of Advent and we talked about ways we say “yes” to God, like Mary did. By helping others, at home and school, we say yes. This is our last week of ornament/decoration sharing for Advent and Christmas. Thank you for allowing your child to bring in these things and share them with classmates. They like to tell a story then put the items on my desk for display during the day. It’s supposed to get colder and the wind chill greater tomorrow. It is fine for students to bring activities for indoor recess. Many of you know Mrs. McAvey. Please pray for her husband and his health issues. I know she appreciates all prayers. God Bless and stay safe and warm!

Thurs. 12/10

December 10th, 2009

Homework: math 61B and finish 61A if needed. Please pray the wind chill improves so we can go out and play in the snow!! New and unwrapped toys or clothing will be collected at church before mass tomorrow. Thanks to all who sent in permission slips/money for our field trip next week. I will send a note about it Monday in the folder. We will not be back in time for hot lunch. Choices are: bring lunch from home or have a bag lunch from school. Stay warm!!

Wed. 12/9

December 9th, 2009

Homework: math 59B. We made Christmas trees today to hang in the hall! The wind chill kept us inside, and probably will tomorrow. Students may bring something to do for indoor recess, such as activities books, cards, coloring things. Stay safe and drive carefully. God Bless You!

Tuesday 12/8

December 8th, 2009

Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Homework: math 58B. Tomorrow we are having library instead of Thursday due to a conflict. Books should be returned tomorrow. I’m sure the kids will want to play in the snow tomorrow so please remind them to have hats, mittens, snowpants, boots, and any other items needed for warmth! Thanks for your help with this and drive safely. God Bless You!

Monday 12/7

December 7th, 2009

I gave a brief lesson about Pearl Harbor and the beginning of WWII this morning. My grandpa was in the war and was proud to serve. Thanks to all who are serving our country now or have in the past. May God bless you. Homework: math 57B, fact homework 57, spelling worksheet. Spelling words this week: fish, shop, ship, with, thin, thank, beg, get, live, many; blue, yellow, brown, pink, orange. Bonus word: Jesus. Each day we write in our Advent book. St. Nicholas visited our room yesterday and left candy canes! The green permission slip for “The Elves and the Shoemaker” play must be returned this week. We are going next Thursday, 12/17, along with the Kdgn. class. On Friday, Dec. 18th we will have a small Christmas party in our room to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. I heard the performance at Christmas Village was awesome! Due to sickness I missed my first one ever. I would love to see some pictures if you have extra – send in or email to me if you can. God Bless You during this 2nd week of Advent. Mass tomorrow 8:00am – Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Thurs. 12/3

December 3rd, 2009

Homework: math 56B and fact sheet 56B. Today we made Advent countdown chains. Each loop has a suggestion of something to do. The idea was to have them in calendar order, but many students (buddies and 1st graders) got mixed up. No worries if not in order! The loops have some wonderful suggestions you can do with your child. Tomorrow is mass, and after lunch recess the final practice for our Christmas Village singing Saturday morning. If possible, please pray for special intentions in our community. It is a difficult time for many. God’s Blessings to all!
