We practiced reading sentences in Spanish and then translating them in English. We practiced with Set 1 and 2. Those in Set 1 are posted but I was not able to get Set 2 posted for you yet. They can be found in the General Spanish Category. It would be very helpful if you would ask your child to read them to you and tell you what they mean. This will help for their upcoming test in two weeks.

I taught the difference between este and esta (this)and how both are used. I also dictated Spanish sentences and asked them to translate them in their notebooks. The sentences used the word “de” (of). Example. Maria es la madre de Rosita.

We practice reading the Spanish words for the members of a family and drilled their meanings in preparation for the test on Monday, December 3rd. Please help your child by reviewing at home. Thank you!

The students learned the Spanish words for the members of a family. They copied these in their notebooks and should be memorizing them. We practiced , drilled and made sentences with them in class. There will be a test on them in two weeks – on Dec. 3. They really need to ask someone at home to review with them.

Tests were returned to the students. If your child did not show you the test result, please ask them to see it. It is very important that each child learn the words or understand their errors since each lesson builds on the previous one. I highly encourage parents to affirm your child’s success and support him/her in learning what was missed in the test.
We also learned some of the names of members of a family. Lesson 10 vocabulary.

Students took their 2nd Spanish test on units 1-9. Thank you to all parents who reviewed with your child. It makes a big difference in a child’s test scores.

We sang our Spanish prayer and then reviewed the words and phrases on Lessons 4-5 for their test on Monday, Oct.15th. Although we only worked on Lessons 4-5 in class, the test could contain any words from the previous tests too.These words are found in their spiral notebooks. A child will earn 5 bonus points on their test if they have a parent review at least 15 minutes for the test. Please sign somewhere on Lesson 5 to have your child gain these extra points.
(When I learn how to scan a page, I will post all the lessons on this Blog so that you can refer to them if your child forgets his/her book! )
