Spanish 3

March-April Grade 3, 2009

The 3rd graders have been practicing sentences using “tengo” and “tiene”.  They hold the  word cards that are in their in their envelopes and practice with partners saying whatever the picture is on the word card ie.  Tengo un libro. Tengo una niña.  Maria tiene un  libro.  El´tiene el libro, etc.

We are practicing sentences with all the words in Lessons 1-5 in various sentence forms.  We are singing Spanish songs and learning new ones.  All this is reading practice using  new words that are in the songs.

Week of Feb. 19 -No classes for Grades 3 & 4 – Labor Day

Week of Feb. 11 Grade 3

We practiced reading the Spanish sentences in Set 1   together in class and with partners. ( It would be very helpful if a parent could review these with their child .  Ask they to them read all in Spanish and then translate them for you.  Then they could get your affirmation and praise for all that they’ve learned! The sentences are posted under General Spanish and the translations are also there.)  Thank you for your help!

Week of Feb. 4 Grade 3

The students listened to my Spanish sentence and then wrote the translation in their notebooks.  They gave themselves a star on each sentence they had translated correctly.  We then began reading orally a list of sentences pasted in their notebooks and checked to see if they could read it correctly and translate it.

Week of Nov. 26 3rd Grade

We drilled the Spanish words for the test on the parts of the boday next Monday, Dec. 3rd.    Please review with your child for this test!!!   Thank you!

Weeks of Nov. 12-20 Grade 3

We practiced using the words in Lesson 6 – the parts of the body, used a worksheet naming the parts and we drilled

their meanings. The students need to keep practicing or memorizing them at home. There will be a test on them on Dec. 3.

Week of Nov. 5 Grade 3

I returned the students’ tests to them and reread the sentences.  ( I hope each child brought their test paper home for you to see!  Please ask them about it if they didn’t.  It would be very helpful if you would go over the test and affirm their progress or express a desire to help them learn what was checked wrong! Each Spanish test is like a building block on which the next lesson is placed.)

Week of Oct. 29th 3rd Grade Spanish

The students took  their 2nd test on tests 1-4 this week.  Thank you to all parents who helped prepare your child by reviewing with him/her.  It really makes a big difference on the test scores.

Week of Oct 8 – 3rd Grade

We practiced reading the words on Lessons 1-5 in their spiral notebooks in preparation for the test on Monday, Oct. 15th. Parents who review at least 15 minutes with their child and sign their notebooks somewhere on Lesson 5 are eligible for 5 bonus points on their test.

Week of Oct 1 – Grade 3

This week we continued to work on responding to the directives: muestrame – show me, traeme- bring me and toca -touch using the word pictures in their desks. They also did some writing in their notebooks.
