Information on Book Fines ( End of 1st Quarter)
Book Fine Policy
Today, Thursday, Oct. 31, the students who have overdue books or fines will be getting a notice.
At the end of each month, I will be sending home a slip of paper with those students who have overdue books or book fines. As is stated on the school
web page under” Library,” $1.00 will be charged to the student who has a book that is a month overdue. (This is really a 6 week interval since the book is lent for a two week period.) At the end of the two weeks, the book
appears in red on the computer screen, meaning it is overdue. The child is reminded of their overdue book each time he/she comes to the computer to withdraw another book. The parent -librarian reminds the child to return the overdue book immediately. A fine is charged only if the book has not been returned a month from that overdue date. For example, if the book is due on Oct. 10, a fine of $1.00 will be charged on Nov. 10 if it has not been returned by then. A record of the overdue books is kept in the “Fine Book”. They are marked “Paid” when the fee is brought in. Each month thereafter, an additional $1.00 is added to the fine if the book is not returned. All of this takes a lot of bookwork and so the prompt payment of a fine is greatly appreciated!
If your child cannot find his/her book, it is better to pay the cost of the book- $6.00 for paperbacks and $16.00 for hard covered books. If the book is found before June, the money will be returned to you.
By paying early, you will not have to pay the overdue charge that accumulates each month . Hopefully by June the book will be found. If the mistake is ours, the money will be returned. (Sister Therese Ann)
