Well, here we are in April already! Things are really going to go fast from here on out!! I hope you and your family had a blessed Easter and a restful break! Here’s what’s going on this week:
**Reminder that this week we will start the new volunteer schedule. If you are scheduled to come on Mondays, please come this week Monday (4-12-10). I am looking forward to working with so many of you to help your children learn and grow.
**We need to replenish our snack cupboard. Please send in a snack to share with the class. Make sure, by looking on the side label, that there is enough for 25 servings. Thanks!!
**This Friday is the Mardi Gras fundraiser. If you still need tickets please contact Mary Kay.
Religion: We are going to continue learning about the Easter season.
Literacy: Ms. W will be visiting this week. She loves wonderful words! With Ms. W we will also learn about water.
Math: We will place an object on a real graph, compare lengths, and ID longer and shorter
There are still several families who have not returned their child’s pictures/money. Please do that ASAP!!! Better to have it out of the way before spring break.
Also, report cards will be sent home tomorrow (Friday 3-26-10) instead of today (Thurs.).
Religion – We will learn about Lent, Palm Sunday, and Easter
Literacy – Ms. L comes this week. She has the Longest Laugh! Ask your child what makes her laugh. The sound l makes is difficult for some children. Sometimes is comes out like “wunch” instead of “lunch”. If you hear your child make this mistake, gently remind them of the correct way to say the l sound (with your tongue on your top teeth).
Math – ID full, half full and empty, cover a design more than one way with pattern blocks, pay for items to $1 using dimes, and place a tag on a paragraph.
Since this is the last week before spring break and Easter, I want to wish allĀ of you a very happy Easter!! For those of you who get to go on trips, have fun and be safe!
Please return your child’s spring pics/money by Monday March 22nd. Thank you!!
Religion – We will be learning about Baptism. When we are baptized we become part of God’s family.
Literacy – Ms. V came this week. She has a vegetable vest! We read a story about how she plants her garden, and about a lazy bear and a hare. The hare tricks the bear by planting vegetables that grow below the ground and above the ground.
Math – We will ID numbers 0-20 on a number line, learn the meaning of before, between and after, ID a one-cup measuring cup, and follow a recipe.
**Tomorrow (3-17-10) the students may wear green for St. Patrick’s day for $1. Blue jeans are ok.
**Next week Thursday or Friday I would like to have a volunteer to put students’ work into their paper bags to bring home over break. Please let me know if you are able to do this for me. Thanks!!
Religion -We will be learning about sin. The way it is explained to kindergartners is that a sin is when you do something even though you know it is wrong.
Literacy – Ms. U, AKA LetterLight U, came today! She has an unusual umbrella that she can fly with. Today we played the un game. Ask your child to tell you about it!
Math – We will compare sets of objects, weigh objects and order them by weight, and combine sets of objects by counting on.
**We are entering a VERY wet time of year outside. Please remind your child that they should stay out of puddles and not go down the slides if there are puddles at the bottom. We have talked about it in class, but some need reminders. You may want to have a dry pair of socks in your child’s backpack just in case they get wet boots.
Religion – we are continuing our unit on missionaries
Literacy – Mr. D is coming this week! He sent us a note today (Mon.) about his dazzling dance performance at the Dill-Dally Dinosaur Museum, and a book about dinosaurs. He should arrive in our class tomorrow.
Math – we will i.d. dimes, count by 10’s, i.d. and create ABB sound and movement patters, count dimes to 50 cents, and pay for item to 50 cents using dimes.
*Conferences are this week. Your scheduled time was sent home with your child last week. Please be on time so we can keep everyone on schedule. Thanks!!
