Religion – We will be learning about Baptism. When we are baptized we become part of God’s family.

Literacy – Ms. V came this week. She has a vegetable vest! We read a story about how she plants her garden, and about a lazy bear and a hare. The hare tricks the bear by planting vegetables that grow below the ground and above the ground.

Math – We will ID numbers 0-20 on a number line, learn the meaning of before, between and after, ID a one-cup measuring cup, and follow a recipe.

**Tomorrow (3-17-10) the students may wear green for St. Patrick’s day for $1. Blue jeans are ok. :-)

**Next week Thursday or Friday I would like to have a volunteer to put students’ work into their paper bags to bring home over break. Please let me know if you are able to do this for me. Thanks!!

Religion -We will be learning about sin. The way it is explained to kindergartners is that a sin is when you do something even though you know it is wrong.

Literacy – Ms. U, AKA LetterLight U, came today! She has an unusual umbrella that she can fly with. Today we played the un game. Ask your child to tell you about it! :-)

Math – We will compare sets of objects, weigh objects and order them by weight, and combine sets of objects by counting on.

**We are entering a VERY wet time of year outside. Please remind your child that they should stay out of puddles and not go down the slides if there are puddles at the bottom. We have talked about it in class, but some need reminders. You may want to have a dry pair of socks in your child’s backpack just in case they get wet boots.

Religion – we are continuing our unit on missionaries

Literacy – Mr. D is coming this week! He sent us a note today (Mon.) about his dazzling dance performance at the Dill-Dally Dinosaur Museum, and a book about dinosaurs. He should arrive in our class tomorrow.

Math – we will i.d. dimes, count by 10’s, i.d. and create ABB sound and movement patters, count dimes to 50 cents, and pay for item to 50 cents using dimes.

*Conferences are this week. Your scheduled time was sent home with your child last week. Please be on time so we can keep everyone on schedule. Thanks!!

Religion – We will be doing a unit about Columban Missions. The kindergarten unit is called Journey with Jesus – Where will we go? The students will learn about children around the world.

Math – We will ID a cube, count with one-to-one correspondence, match number cards to objects, copy line segments, shapes and designs on a geoboard and estimate collections.

Literacy – Ms. S will come this week. She has Super Socks! We will also have three new Every Day Words: have, go, when. Please add these words to your child’s word list.

*Please remember to continue to help your child pray for their prayer buddy during Lent.

*Conferences are next week Tuesday and Thursday. I will be sending home the schedule this Thursday. If you haven’t signed up for a time slot, I will be sending home a schedule for your to do so. Please send it back before Thursday.

*If you haven’t already, please send back your child’s brown paper bag.

100th Day

***Reminder: Please have your child bring in 100 of something. I have told them that it has to fit in their backpack or they should not bring it. Please keep this in mind when helping your child decide what to bring. Thank you!!

I would like each child to bring in 100 of something. It should be small enough that it fits into their backpack. Here are some examples: marbles, mini marshmallows, legos, tooth picks, Popsicle sticks, hair barrettes, rubber bands, paper clips, pencils, crayons, beans, seeds. The possibilities are endless. Please have them at school on Friday ONLY. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me. Have fun!! ;-)

Well, the big day is finally here!! We will celebrate the 100th day of school this week! The actual day is Friday the 19th, but we will be doing all things 100 for the whole week. There are some times when having a parent or two in the room with us would be a big help: Tuesday 9:30-10:00,  Wednesday 8:30 to 9:45, Friday 9:30-11:00. If you can come in, please let me know.

Religion – We will be learning about the things the priests use and wear during mass.

Math – We will be working with geo boards, graphing, and pennies

Literacy – We will continue with LetterLight I. He’s a vowel, and lights the way to words like LetterLight A.

**Mardi Gras – The school will have a Mardi Gras celebration on Thursday this week. Students may buy tickets for games for $0.25 a piece. We will only have 30 minutes to play, so don’t let your child buy too many tickets as they are non-refundable. Families are welcome to join us during our class’ time, including siblings. I don’t know our exact time yet, when I do I will let you know.

**Valentines Day party – We will be celebrating Valentines Day on Friday afternoon (2-12-10). We will have some treats and play some games. We will start at about 1:00 and your are welcome to join us! Your child may bring valentines for all their classmates. Please only label it with who its from and NOT who it’s to, it makes it easier to hand them out. ;-)

**100th Day – The 100th day of school is on Friday February 19th! Can you believe it?! We will spend the week doing many different activities in honor of the 100th day!! It would be very helpful if I could get some extra hands to help out. If you are available to come in, please let me know. I can use you at anytime on any of those four days.
