Good morning,

The fours were very busy this morning. We began working on our props for the end-of-year celebration that will take place in our classroom on the last day of school.  The classic story of  ‘Stone Soup’  has been slightly changed for our purposes.  More information on this wonderful event will be sent home during the next few weeks.

In addition to the painting this morning, the children helped to set up an  experiment  involving stalks of celery and food colored water. We are trying  to prove that the stem of a plant is very important in providing nutrients to the plant. I am sure the children can fully explain IN GREAT DETAIL what we did for this experiment.  Come Monday morning we should see some surprising changes to our stalk of celery.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning,

Our Circle Activity included a lesson on shapes and colors.  We used our knowledge of shapes to make beautiful ‘Geometric Flowers’.  Be sure to stop by and see our lovely creations.  The children continued to reinforce their small muscle control by  glue-painting a duck shape and then adding yellow feathers. You can find the duck in their back packs.

Once again we were able to be outside in this lovely weather to play on our playground. What a wonderful time.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

The children had PhyEd this morning. Mr. J. took the children out to the soft ball diamond where they had a chance to walk/run the bases. What
fun was that?

It is that time of year again to chat about the growth of your little one. I have a sign up sheet in the classroom giving several possible times. If you are interested, please sign up for a time that is good for you.

If you have not returned or purchased the Spring Pictures of your child please do so in the next week.

Another wonderful, busy day in the three year old classroom.
Today the children reviewed counting as we played our game of feeding carrots to the beanie bunny, we reviewed letters by naming the letters we pulled out of Curious George’s sack. We decorated foam eggs, had an Easter Egg hunt and decorated cookies for our snack.

Using a variety of foam shapes, the children also made Easter necklaces.
The cross, represents Jesus’ great sacrifice for all of us. The circular shapes represents God’s love for us , like a circle that has no beginning and no end. The star shapes were used to tell us that God’s love for us will always shine above all else. And the flower shapes represent our love for baby Jesus which is always blooming.

Enjoy this very long vacation with your family. I will miss all of you.
Take care of one another.

Remember no school next week or the week after that.
Also, please remember the fund raiser that is being held on April 16th. This is a wonderful event and everyone always has a GREAT time! Come and join the fun. The committee-members are looking for a few more helpers as well – check the flyer that went home with your little one today.

We talked about the importance of the Easter season with one another and followed up by making a ’stained glass’ window which is hanging in the hallway.

Today the children worked on counting review and number recognition. This skill was reinforced with Circle Activities and a table top game. The children are bringing home their self-made game. Ask your little one to play the flower pot game with you this evening.

Our drama center has been changed into the “Garden Shop”. The children are free to come to this center to ‘buy’ flowers and other garden related supplies. They can also try their creative style at flower arrangement.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

TUESDAY 3/16/10

Today we celebrated Lauren’s birthday – Happy 4th Birthday to you, and thank you for the birthday treats. The children made individual cards for our birthday girl by using birthday stamps and Curious George stamps.

We knew that the leprechaun visited the classroom over night, because the shamrock number cards were not in order. We had to fix that. Then he left supplies and directions for making shamrock head bands. You will find the headbands in their backpacks.

Our letter for today is the letter ‘G’. We listened to the story of ‘The three Billy Goats Gruff’ and acted it out using the story figures.

Enjoy the evening with your family.
