This morning the children enjoyed one last class of Computer as PreK students.

It is very difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that Friday will be my last time with these precious children. It seems that we just got started last week. I have enjoyed my time with them as they begin their journey of school life. Thank you for giving me  the opportunity to be a small part in your child’s life.

Remember our program on Friday 5/29 @ 10am.  The children made their invitations for you this morning, be sure to look in their backpacks for this very important piece of information.

We have only two days left with our PreK program. Where did the time go?  No school on Monday 5/25.

We will see each other on Wednesday 5/27 and then again for our Celebration party on the 29th. We will begin our big day as usual at 8:30 , parents are invited to return at 10am to help us celebrate our year long accomplishments!  Our program includes; two short presentations from the children, the presentation of certificates, a glance of the year through pictures, followed by CAKE! Come and join us if you can.

This morning the PreK children and their partners  made a Caterpillar counting game.  Make some time this weekend to play this home-made  Caterpillar game with your little one.

The children continue to work hard on their end of year presentation. Next week we will send home the invitations for this wonderful celebration (29th of May @ 10am).

The children painted their bugs this morning. We will be sending the completed project home with them on Friday. The children worked on Lady Bug booklets this morning as well as reviewing counting and letter recognition through ‘bug’ activities.

Due to the upper grade testing schedule we did not have computer class this morning.

The children made bugs today from the ‘crayola air-dry’ clay.  Their creatures are very interesting and some are rather frightening.  We will paint them on Wednesday and they will be ready to take home on Friday of this week.  We read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and followed up with making a caterpillar.

WOW! What a busy week we had in the PreK classroom.The children are busy practicing for their End-Of-Year Celebration Program and they are doing an AWESOME job!  Our program will consist of two song performances, presentation of certificates, slide show and the best part (according to the children) -  CAKE and PUNCH.  Our program will be on Friday, May 29th at 10am.

The children continue to enjoy  the ‘camping’ unit.  We have gone fishing for numbers, shapes and names. Wednesday we made our summer visors, which many of them wore during play ground time.  We enjoyed a working time with our 5th grade partners this morning. They are helping us with the last few pages for our end of the year ABC book.

Today the children were introduced to the ‘camping/bug/spring’ unit. We have many new ideas in the stations to help the children review some basic skills; there are bug eggs to match (these are Easter eggs with bug motifs) , bugs to count and sort, bug puzzles to put together, fishing for shapes, fishing for names, a boat for imaginary trips, and a tent for quiet reading or puzzle work.  We will be talking about camp safety, camp activities, good foods to eat on a camping/hiking trip, and many more topics.
