The children were full of talk regarding their plans for Thanksgiving. It is such a pleasure to listen to and feel their excitement. This morning we worked on the concept of ‘narrow’ and ‘wide’. The children had to build a narrow path with blocks and then a wide path. After having constructed both paths, we tried our balance skills by walking the paths. We concluded that the narrow path was more difficult to walk than the wider path.
The children also came home with their ‘turkey hats’ today. We had fun making and wearing them.
Flyers went home today regarding Kindergarten screening. All children entering Kindergarten in the Fall must have this screening. Please check your child’s backpack for this important information.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break with your family. See you on Monday, 11/30.

This morning the children attended Spanish with Sr. Therese Ann. We are working hard on our Spanish words and phrases. It is great to see the children that are catching on to shout out the answers, however, I remind them to ‘hold on’ to their energy for the benefit of others as well. The childen finished their turtles as we reviewed the letter ‘Tt”. Come see our train full of turtles in the classroom. The children also listened to a silly story about the character ‘Tricky Turkey”, they followed up with making a turkey puppet . Look for the puppet in your child’s backpack this afternoon.
A reminder: The classroom is running low on snacks…please send in another box or two of your choice for snacks with the children. Having 15 littles ones, a box of Teddy Bear grahams doesn’t last but one snack time. Thank you for your help.
Have a wonderful evening with your families.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Today the children worked with the letter ‘Tt’ – ‘T’ is for Thanksgiving, turkey and turtles. The children dictated what they were most thankful for and we sponge painted the shell of a paper turtle. We will finish up this second project on Wednesday after the paint dries.
Remember: Next week is Thanksgiving. We will not have class on Wednesday.
Also we are getting low on snacks for the classroom. Please feel free to send in an extra box or two of snacks for the class.
Enjoy the evening with your family.

What a busy morning we had in Pre-K. The children had Phy. Ed. where they continued to work on large muscle coordination. We read the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and compared the meaning of the story to the concept of community helpers. Many of the children were able to complete a sequence activity concerning the story. This activity sheet will be completed on Monday for those who needed a little more time. Next week will find us busy with Thanksgiving related projects.
Have a wonderful weekend with your loved ones.

What a wonderful chilly day. The children had computer this morning where they worked in the program of ‘A to Zap’. This program helps the children review the letters of the alphabet as they strengthen general computer skills.
We had a classroom visitor again this morning – Jeffrey’s new baby brother came in w/ mom to visit for a short time before dismissal. Thank you Jeffrey and mom for sharing your new one with us.
The children have TWO projects to share with you this afternoon. Both are covering Community Helpers.
Have a wonderful evening with your family.

Good morning,
Nurse Bonnie visited our classroom this morning. Her topic this morning was ‘GERMS’. She demonstrated the proper way to wash our hands. Did you know that we should sing the ‘Happy Birthday’ song twice while washing our hands to be sure we are getting rid of those nasty germs? Nurse Bonnie also talked about the proper way to ‘catch’ our coughs and sneezes to prevent the germs from spreading throughout our classroom and to our friends.
Our Faith Formation lesson focused again on God’s love for His children. The children followed up with an easy project which will be saved for classroom display.
Enjoy the evening with your family.

We began our unit on Comm unity Helpers this morning. The children were given picture cards of a community helper and their tools. The children discussed the jobs these individuals did and how they helped our city through their jobs.
The children were excited to see some changes in our classroom this morning. The drama area has become our community coffee shop, playdough is out in the art/science area, and in the manipulative area we have a variety of new items (well, new to these children) that reinforce the concept of community helpers.
A reminder: If parents are volunteering in the classroom, go on field trips, or volunteering in any way to work with our children, they must complete the VIRTUS program before they may be a part of our activities. We apologize for any misunderstanding – but this is a must for the safety of our children. Please take the opportunity for this training course.
