Welcome back, I missed all of you! Today the children had Phy Ed with Mr. J.  They worked on catching and bouncing the play balls.  In the classroom, the children worked on small Easter banners for their bedroom door.  We read the Easter Story from our Holy Week big book and talked about how much we are loved by our families and by Jesus.

A reminder regarding spring pictures; if you have not returned either money for purchasing  or pictures you need to do so ASAP – this will prevent an automatic charge to you for the pictures.  Thanks.

Also a reminder regarding the Spring Concert. Our PreK students will be performing at this time.  The event is scheduled for  Tuesday, April 8 @ 7:00pm.    Our little ones should be in the gym by  6:50 -they will be called to the risers at that time! Please come and support our young performers – see you there.

The Easter Bunny came to our classroom this morning and hid eggs all over the classroom. We will be finding eggs from now until the end of the school year. The children had to search and find 5 eggs for their bunny bags that we made on Monday. We decorated an egg foam shape, cracked open eggs that were filled with letters, and watched the conclusion of ‘The Little Engine That Could”.  We also read  from our Holy Week big book the story of the Last Supper and we talked about how Jesus washed the feet of his friends out of love and how He wants us to return that love in all we do.

I continue to witness  acts of kindness, compassion, and simple friendship among our children in Pre-K.  They are marvelous reflections of God’s love.  And today was no exception, the children were playing a simple review game with our ABC beach ball. As the game continued a few children  noticed that two of their classmates had not had ‘their extra turn’.  The focus on the activity took on a new purpose in providing the needed turns to make the game ‘fair’ for everyone.  We need to rejoice and celebrate in these simple acts of kindness that our children show – for it is in these acts that we see God’s love and His message in action.

Have a wonderful Easter  with your families. I will see everyone back at school on the 31st.

HAPPY ST. PATTY’S DAY!

TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU.

The little Leprechaun visited our classroom! He left a green necklace for everyone that  we could wear and keep forever and ever. And guess what else he did? -He hid  shamrocks all  over the place!  The children went on the ’shamrock hunt’ to collect all ten of them.  We noticed that the little Leprechaun had numbered the shamrocks, so we had to read the numbers and then put them in numerical order. And then we realized he had left us some instructions on the back of each shamrock – we had to do what the Leprechaun had written . On one shamrock he wrote that we had to point to as many letter “L’s” as we could find in the classroom -  on another shamrock he told us to find all the number four’s in the room – and another told us to find things that were of his favorite color.. green -  and then we had to hop on one foot seven times – and he also wrote  he was ‘as quick as a wink’ he wanted to know how quick we were, so we had to run as fast as we could -in place of course- for ten seconds, wow! we were pretty tired after that.  At snack time we found some of his hidden ‘treasure’ that we could eat.

We also made  Easter Bag Bunnies that we will use on Wednesday as we go on our ‘indoor egg hunt’.

Have a great evening with your families.

Is it Friday already?  The children went to Music class this morning with Mrs. Jones.  The children and Mrs. Jones are busy practicing songs for the Spring Concert.  Please reserve  the evening of Tuesday, April 8th for a wonderful performance by our young students.  In class the children continued to work on their Lenten cross project – stop by the display case on Monday to see what a beautiful job they did. The children reviewed counting and number recognition through a train game. During snack time I allowed the children to view the first part of the video “The Little Engine That Could”. We will finish watching the movie some time next week – again during snack.

The Spring School Pictures went home this week.  If you are not interested in the pictures please return them to me. If he pictures are not returned, the company will automatically send you a bill for the purchase price. Thanks.

Remember next week the children meet on Monday and Wednesday only.  We will be making our bunny bags on Monday which we will use for our  egg hunt.  During next week the children will be listening to a marvelous book I have for this age level retelling the story of Jesus and the events of Holy Week.

Enjoy your weekend with your family and I will see you on Monday.

This morning the children reviewed the ABC’s through a game designed for Circle Time.  We had a good time playing the game and sharing our knowledge.  The children are bringing their dinosaur models home today, hopefully they arrive home in one piece.  The next several class times will focus on story book characters – ‘The Little Engine That Could’, ‘ The Country Mouse and the City Mouse’, and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ – each of these characters have important lessons for us to learn in regards to becoming the person that God wants us to be.  ‘The creepy, crawly, friendly  critter’ unit  (bugs) will begin after Spring Break.

Have a wonderful evening with your family.

Today’s Circle activity concentrated on shapes.  We reviewed some visuals of shapes; circle, square, triangle,  etc. The children were  given four pipe cleaners and were instructed to make a shape of their choice.  The children then tried to guess what shape their friends had made.  We  continued this learning experience in the Computer lab where the children went on a program using  shapes to create  pictures, played shape memory, and completed other shape related activities.

Back in the PreK classroom, the children painted their dinosaurs. WOW! These critters will be ready to come home on Monday.

Again, conference times are listed in the classroom. Please sign up for a time where we can share your child’s accomplishments. Enjoy the weekend with your family.

Good morning everyone.  The children reviewed several facts about Dinosaurs and shared with one another the type of dinosaur they would like to find.  This conversation  led into our project for the day – using clay to create  dinosaur.  The children were  given a quantity of ‘crayola  air-dry-clay’  which they molded into their own unique dinosaur.  We will paint these  one-of-a-kind dinosaurs on Friday, let them dry over the weekend and send them home on Monday.  The children also worked on  the ‘Gg’ paper for their ABC book.

Working with playdough or clay is  a wonderful creative outlet for your child. In addition, as he/she kneads, squeezes, and rolls that clay around he/she is strengthening the small muscle control  which is needed for the proper pencil grip and fuure printing activities as well as scissor control, tying shoes, and many other small muscle actions that we, as adults, do without thinking. So join in the fun as your little one plays with playdough this weekend.

Remember, conference time is here. I do have a sign-up sheet in the classroom with several open spots.  If these times and dates do not work for you – just let me know and something will be arranged.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

Good morning,

The children had Spanish today and worked on counting from one to ten.  The children are being very careful as we continue to ‘dig’ for dinosaurs. Over the next couple of days we will be using air-dry clay to create  our own unique dinosaurs,   we will also be painting  them – probably on Friday.

It’s that time of the year for conferences again. I have a sign up sheet in the classroom with dates and times. If another date/time is preferred, let me know and I’ll see what I can do for you.  Thank you.
