Today the children worked on counting review and number recognition. This skill was reinforced with Circle Activities and a table top game. The children are bringing home their self-made game. Ask your little one to play the flower pot game with you this evening.

Our drama center has been changed into the “Garden Shop”. The children are free to come to this center to ‘buy’ flowers and other garden related supplies. They can also try their creative style at flower arrangement.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

Today we celebrated Lauren’s birthday – Happy 4th Birthday to you, and thank you for the birthday treats. The children made individual cards for our birthday girl by using birthday stamps and Curious George stamps.

We knew that the leprechaun visited the classroom over night, because the shamrock number cards were not in order. We had to fix that. Then he left supplies and directions for making shamrock head bands. You will find the headbands in their backpacks.

Our letter for today is the letter ‘G’. We listened to the story of ‘The three Billy Goats Gruff’ and acted it out using the story figures.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

Good morning,
What a wonderful day in the three year old class. Our focus this morning was on the letter ‘Rr’ and we reviewed the letter ‘Ss’ from last week. Today we used the long wooden blocks to make a bridge and we pretended that we were walking across a River. It was a lot of fun to reinforce the letter ‘Rr’ in this play but the added element was the balancing we had to do as we actually walked on the long wooden blocks. We realized our sense of balance improved as we repeated our walks.

The children also worked on counting to the number six. To reinforce this skill, the children made number flip charts. They should have this activity in their backpacks as well as the letter ‘Rr’ poster which they made this morning.

Enjoy the weekend with your family .

The children had Music with Mrs. Jones this morning. They are working on the Spring Program. How fun! We reviewed the letter and sound for ‘Ss’. The children made a very simple picture book for the letter ‘Ss’. Invite them to ‘read’ the booklet for you tonight. The children reviewed number skills, and we made the first part of our butterfly wings. We will finish them up and go ‘flying’ like a butterfly in the gym early Friday morning.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

Good morning,
The children had Computer this morning where we practiced our mouse skills by drawing kites and other spring themed items. Back in the classroom we focused on letter recognition using lettered kites, and we followed up with a kite booklet . We read a silly story about an imaginary and funny little Leprechaun.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

Today the children focused on counting skills. We added counting dots to the tails of our kites to show given numbers and sums of simple groupings.
We did a science experiment involving light and eye sight. The children concluded that we need light – sunlight, artificial light – to see the world around us. Ask them about the experiment. It was a lot of fun.

Registration information for Kindergarten went home with your child today.

Enjoy this beautiful weather!

Good morning everyone,
Our Circle activity this morning involved the pre-reading skill of rhyming. The children worked as a team to match up ten pairs of matching pictures. Table top activities included playing a simple math game which helped us in counting one through five as well as recognizing the written symbol for these numbers. Our second activity involved working with the letter ‘Tt’ for the sense of touch. You might find this letter poster in their backpack. A few were left in the cubbies and they can picked those up the next class. I also have registration forms for our Four Year Old Program for 2010-11.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy March everyone,
Today the children played a silly version of the game Twister. We were concentrating on the sense of sight, color recognition, and counting in using the game mat. The children would spin , tell us the color, and then place a Curious George ‘plushie’ character on the given color circle. After everyone had a turn, we counted the number of George’s on each color. Everyone had two turns while on the circle, then the game and pieces were left in place so they could play independently with their friends. We worked on our finger dexterity by using our glue brushes to paint a shamrock and placing variations of green tissue paper on the shamrock to make a beautiful ’sight’. We also reinforced our number recognition by playing a game using the magnetic numbers and our counting bears. It was a fun busy day.

Enjoy the evening with your family.

Can you believe it is the first of March? Now if the weather will only cooperate it would be lovely.
The children had Spanish this morning with Sister. They are learning so many words and phrases – wonderful! The children also had their spring pictures taken this morning. You make the decision to purchase or not to purchase when the pictures are sent home. If you are not interested in purchasing, simply send the complete package back to school.

The children finished up their Leprechauns which are now hanging on the classroom line. We reviewed counting to 31 and talked about the new month of March.

Enjoy the evening with your family.
