November 9-13

Art Adventure begins this week on Monday. This will be an exciting week with the Science Museum of Minnesota here to do a residency called “Crime Lab”. We will have an opening assembly on Tuesday morning along with an afternoon session called “Chromatography Lab.” Father Hogan visits on Tuesday as well, so there will be no math that day. Thursday is Green and White Day, report cards come home, and we have another session – “Handwriting Analysis.” Friday we have “Fingerprinting Lab” and also the Crime Lab Closing when all the clues will point to the solution.

Monday – math #38 – adding three or more single digit numbers – art – Art Adventure

reading – theme is out in space this week – nonfiction articles

writing – begin their “ABC Book” working on finding two facts about each item and possessive singular nouns

science – measuring matter – volume and mass -study chapter E1, review p. E34-35, vocabulary and packet for test tomorrow

religion – Pentecost

Tuesday – no math – music and technology-Crime lab assembly and one session – Father Hogan visits

religion – names for the Holy Spirit – Advocate, Helper, Guide

reading – Constellations – main idea and details

science – test

Wednesday – math l. # 39 – telling and showing time to five-minute intervals and identifying a.m. and p.m. -gym and music – Green and White Day is tomorrow

science – changes in matter

writing – work on book and possessive plural nouns

religion – signs of the Holy Spirit – study chapter 7 and faith words for test tomorrow

Thursday – math l. # 40 – adding seven and eight – music & library – Green and White Day – crime lab session

reading – “Planets in Our Solar System” using context clues for unfamiliar words

religion – test

Friday – Mass – spelling test – 2 crime lab sessions – gym

religion – chapter 8 – we are the Church

November 2-6

Large chunks of class time will be gone this week – Rake-a-Thon on Monday (yeah!!! – sunny) and the school play will be Wednesday afternoon, so a few subjects will be missing. It is our class Mass this Friday, so students will be doing the planning and taking part. All October Home Reading Logs and field trip permission slips need to be turned in by Wednesday.

Wednesday – math – L. # 36 – counting quarters – gym – no Spanish – performance

reading – fact and opinion

religion – way of the cross-study chapter 6 and vocabulary

science – solids, liquids, gases

Thursday – math – l. # 37 – finding 1/2 of a set of objects- music and library

religion – review and test

writing – state abbreviations

reading – parts of a book – glossary, table of contents, index, etc.

Friday – our Mass – spelling test – gym

math – writing number sentences and story problems

writing – starting a BIG project – they will be writing a nonfiction ABC book – they need to figure out their topic over the weekend, will begin gathering facts next week – 2 facts for each letter word

religion – Last Supper – Jesus promises the Spirit
