March 30-April 3

There are no more calendar weeks for the Heiffer Project, there were just 4 of them. Confessions on Thursday, so we will be reviewing the form on Wednesday. My surgery was successful on 3/24. Thank you you for the prayers. My vision should stabilize in 3 weeks, when I will get a new lense for the left side of my glasses. My vision is blurry right now, and I’m a bit more weak than I thought I would be. Students will be doing research on their family history – a form will be coming home asking for specific names, years of immigration and country of origin – realizing some may not have this information. March Home reading Logs are due on  Wednesday.  Cookie sale on Wednesday. Report cards come home on Thursday.

reading – “My Mom Can’t See Me” – a nonfiction story from a daughter’s point of view

writing – learn to interview

social studies – building new lives

Tuesday – math – l.# 103 – reading and writing 5 digit numbers and multiplying by 100 and 1,000- library & music

religion – love for ourselves

writing – deciding on questions for an interview with a grandparent about the family’s history- getting immigration information

Wednesday – math l.# 104 – writing a four-digit number in expanded form – Spanish & art

reading – main idea and supporting details – identifying point of view

religion – love for others – study chapter #18 and faith words for test tomorrow- examination of conscience for Confession tomorrow

social studies – classifying

writing – read an “interview in action” and prepare to interview a grandparent

Thursday – math l.# 105 – dividing by 3 & 4 and writing multiplication and division fact families – gym

religion – test on chapter 18 – Confession

writing – begin work on family history project – 3 pages of research which we will work on in school, but some will need some home help – Ellis Island website

social studies – coming to America – immigration

Friday – Mass – spelling test – math- identifying perpendicular line segments – technology and music (practice recorders with 4th graders for spring program)

religion – Palm Sunday and living stations by 7 th graders

March 16-20

Remember the bake and used toy sale on Tuesday, March 17. Please put each bakery item in its own bag. Students may bring $1.00 to be out of uniform on Tuesday – money goes toward the Long Lake trip for 6th graders. Wasn’t it cool that one of the Sunday readings was about the 10 Commandments, which we are studying? Originally Confessions were scheduled for March 19, they have been changed to April 2. We will be going to Stations of the Cross in Church on Friday. Check with your child if they still have either crayons or colored pencils – we use them for math most weeks, and need red, blue, and green on Monday.

Monday – math l.# 99 – measuring and drawing line segments to the nearest quarter inch- gym – send $1.00 tomorrow if they want to be out of uniform and food and toys

reading – a realistic fiction story – “Ramona’s Great Day”

Stations of the Cross in Church

March 9-13

Bake sale – please wrap or bag each of the items separately – we’ll sell them for a quarter each. It would be great if you could send 2 dozen of the items. Two out of uniform days this week. Tuesday , March 10, they can wear what they want for $1.00. The proceeds go to the 6th grade class’ trip to Long Lake. Thursday, March 12, is Green and White Day. Rachel’s mom found a great spelling site for those students who need a little extra practice using their pre-test words in fun games – www.spellingcity.com.
