11/12 – 11/ 20 (a week and 2 days of class)

We had a wonderful flag ceremony outside honoring the veterans today, and a veteran visited the classroom and shared valuable information.   The “Catholic Spirit” newspaper is running a poster contest.  Twenty students wanted to enter, so I will be sending the letter  to those 20 families . Last turn in day for the rake-a Thon to qualify for prizes is this Friday, November 16.  Send Baptism items on Wednesday as we study the sacrament. Looking ahead – all day field trip December 13 to Art Institute and performance of  “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”

Monday – Math – L. #44 – identify missing digit in addition problem – art & Spanish

Religion – signs of the Holy Spirit – test tomorrow, study chapter 7 and faith words

Reading – another fable “Country Mouse and City Mouse”

Writing – final draft on Get Well/Thanksgiving cards for service people at Walter Reed Hospital

Social Studies – begin 3 chapter unit on Native Americans – Anasazi

Tuesday – Math – L. #45 multiply by 1 and 10 – identify factors and products – library &  gym

Religion test and begin chapter 8 “We Are the Church”

Buddies – make Thanksgiving cards to go with food for food drive

Wednesday – Math – L. #46 – reading thermometer to nearest degree and identify freezing/boiling point of water-music

Religion – sacraments of initiation – Baptism and Confirmation

Junior Achievement lesson about communities

Social Studies – Native American Communities – 6 cultural areas in U.S.

Reading – compare life in city and country for a mouse and settings of each

Thursday – Math – L. #37 – Using comparison symbols  – gym – music

Religion – Study chapter 8 and faith words for test tomorrow and send food for the needy

Writing – making lists 

Social Studies – geography of Mesa Verde

Friday – Mass  – math – estimating and finding capacity of containers – spelling test -  Religion test – technology

Thanksgiving – begin 3 lessons about the ship Mayflower, children traveling on it, and the first Thanksgiving

Writing – make a list of 26 things  you are thankful for

Picture re-take days and rake -a – Thon turn – in day

Monday – Math L. # 48 – identify vertical, horizontal, and oblique line segments – art & Spanish

Religion – review the first unit, nine lessons

Social studies – Mesa Verde today – study chapter 3, packet (p.17-22), and vocabulary for test tomorrow

Reading – 4 groups will be reading about a 4 Native American tribes to share their  information next week

Tuesday – math – making a shape for a given perimeter – library & gym

Social studies – test on chapter 3
