Please send in items for the Jolly Jars for Christmas Village – little toys, candy, stickers etc. We have a few things for our 2 jars, would like 1 more jar as well. See you all Saturday at Christmas Village (10:30 for 3rd grade singers). November Home Reading Logs or a note stating how much reading was done for the month need to come in this week.
Monday – Math L. #49 – finding perimeter – art & Spanish – spelling pre-test comes home
reading – “Thinking Big”, a nonfiction story about a dwarf child
social studies – continuing our study of the 4 tribes – read a biography of one of their heroes
Tuesday -Math – L. #50 subtracting a number from 10 (they’ll learn a card game to practice these) library & gym
Highlights Journal will come home with a different theme from highlights of our week in room 12 – “Thanksgiving”
religion – continuing our study of St. Paul – his conversion and missionary work
Wednesday -Math – L. #51 – constructing a number line – music
social studies – Begin our 6 weeks Native American Project – letter explaining the project is coming home – parents need to sign and return – Junior Achievement, awesome lessons with blueprints and planning a town as far as zones in a city
reading – main idea, supporting details and plural nouns
religion – St. John Neumann, a missionary Study chapter 10 and faith words for test tomorrow
Thursday – Math – L. #52 – adding two-digit numbers using the addition algorithm – gym, music, and technology
religion test on chapter 10
social studies – begin learning about the geography of an English Colony – Jamestown
Friday – spelling test, mass, – computer lab to do research on their tribe’s home
religion – begin chapter 11 – celebrations of God’s Love – sacraments – Advent

We had a wonderful flag ceremony outside honoring the veterans today, and a veteran visited the classroom and shared valuable information. The “Catholic Spirit” newspaper is running a poster contest. Twenty students wanted to enter, so I will be sending the letter to those 20 families . Last turn in day for the rake-a Thon to qualify for prizes is this Friday, November 16. Send Baptism items on Wednesday as we study the sacrament. Looking ahead – all day field trip December 13 to Art Institute and performance of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”
