May 17-22

This week begins the crazy time of spring at school, days are not normal from now on. NWEA test scores were awesome – most students surpassed the goals they had set for themselves last fall.

1. I will interview each student to share their NWEA spring scores, compare the actual growth to the goals they made last fall(copies of which were sent home as well as skills to work on to raise the scores) These packets will come home on Friday in their purple folders. there will also b e a form coming home in report cards that has the information in a graph.  It clearly shows the summer dip, please encourage your children to read over the summer, at least a book a week. 2. Each student is expected to memorize the Apostle’s Creed – I will be testing each of them next week, as soon as they are ready. A copy was sent home on 5/13 to study. 3. Each student will have a chance to bring home the class rosary kits – please put the statue on a table, talk about what your family wants to pray for, write it in the journal(we’ll be praying for these intentions as well), pray the rosary as a family (for those unfamiliar with the rosary-say a prayer) and return the kit the next day so everyone gets a turn. 4. We need many volunteers for the Track and field Day of super fun on Monday, June 7. 5. We will begin our times timed tests on the computer – each student works through each of the facts, answering 20 problems in 1 minute. When they pass it, they start earning items for a banana split sundae, beginning with a bowl for the 1′s. They do not need to eat an item they don’t like, several were worried abut that. 6. The last day of school ends at 12:00, following lunch. I like to play Bunco with the students – fun way to do math. If anyone has items they could donate for prizes, that would be much appreciated. 7.
