I can’t believe it’s April already! Let me go back and thank the 5th – 8th graders for their hard work on “My Planet, Your Planet.” You did a fabulous job and I am very proud of you. I hope you believe what you were singing about. Every little thing we can do like turning off water, lights and TVs when we’re not using them can help save energy. God put us here to take care of our planet, so if we can reduce, reuse and recycle we’ll be doing Earth a lot of good!
Another thank you to the PreK-2nd graders for their work Tuesday in your program “Go Fish!” Your singing was sensational, your speaking parts were wonderful and your costumes were fantastic! I am very proud of you!
3rd & 4th graders are working on their program which will be presented on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. We will be singing, dancing and playing our recorders. The band will be presenting their concert this evening, too. It looks to be a great evening for all involved! More details to follow.
Next Tuesday, 3/11 is the 5th-8th grade spring program in the school gym. Students have been working hard, preparing a show called “My Planet, Your Planet.” The Show Choir will start the show with 2 numbers they have worked on, then all students in 5th-8th grades will join them on the risers. Students are asked to wear green. Pants should be khakis, jeans or green/brown camouflage. Students may wear their concert clothes to school the day of the program as we will present a dress rehearsal in the gym that afternoon for the rest of the school and any parents that wish to join us. Feel free to contact me at school if you have any questions or concerns. This concert will be graded, so attendance is mandatory for all students.

What a fun, busy week before Christmas break! Students in grades 5-8 wrapped up their guitar unit by learning to play “Away in a Manger” with E, A, and B7 chords as well as one note at a time. It’s great to see the improvement over the past 3 weeks of playing guitars. Students in grades K-4 participated in many different activites including playing xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels to dancing with scarves and streamers to watching a video about the real meaning of Christmas entitled “The Lion and the Lamb.” Thank you for a great perfomance at the Pepfest on Thursday afternoon and for singing so nicely at the Christmas Pageant Friday morning. Choir, please remember you are singing at the 5:00 mass on Christmas Eve. Dress nicely and meet Donna at 4:15 p.m. in the choir room. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you in 2008!
K-4 students have been playing Jingle Bells with boomwhackers, xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels this week. We know that big instruments play low sounds and small instruments play high sounds. 5-8 students have learned to play Jingle Bells using 4 chords on the guitar this week. They have learned C, F, G7 and G chords. It’s interesting to hear the similarities and differences between our real acoustic guitars we play in class and the popular videogame phenomen “Guitar Hero.” Keep up the good work!
