Spelling Bee Winners!

Tuesday, January 20, was the grade 4-6 spelling bee. Prior to this, each grade had its own classroom bee. The top four students then participated in the grade 4-6 bee.  The following students participated:

Grade 4:  Jena Forseth, Daniel Gebur, Olivia Heckt, Joe Wilson
Grade 5:  Allie Wollman, Hayley Hanson, Brenna Jensen, Maybelle Franke
Grade 6:  Katherine Byers, Gina Kruse, Emily Jacobsen, Don Gross

Magazine Drive Information

Kick off 

The magazine Drive Kick-off is January 20th, 2010.  You child CAN start selling magazines right away to get a head start.  Bring the packets with you to your Holiday parties.  This is a great time to ask family members to either renew their magazine subscriptions or to order a new subscription.

Student Council brings in dozens of new toys and clothes

IMG_1406St. Raphael's Student Council (left) stands around a table of new toys and clothing that will be given to families in need this Christmas.  After last Friday's Mass, Fr. Jim Herrmann blessed these gifts in the presence of the student body (below).  Thanks to all who helped to make this work of charity a success!

The Barnes and Noble book fair was a big success.

Thanks to all the families that supported St. Raphael’s at the Barnes and Noble book fair! It was an enjoyable day with great activities for the kids.  Through your amazing support we were able to raise just over $1000.00.   Monies will be used to continue our efforts to bring unique opportunities like the Pottery Dude and the Science Museum’s CSI to our school for our children.

Top Rake-A-Thon Students win big!

LastIMG_1310 Friday Ms. Autumn made a special appearance to deliver prizes and congratulate student winners of the 2009 Rake-a-thon.  Raising $700, the top Student for K-4 was Joe Wilson, (pictured on right).  Alexander and Juliana Eisch tied for the top 5-8 award raising $250 each (pictured left and center).  Winning the grand prize of $200 was Elizabeth Connolly. 

Crime Lab comes to SRS

IMG_3944This week, students participated in activities to find out who stole a breakthrough soda pop additive from Dr. Cheryl Graham's lab.  Provided by the Science Museum of Minnesota, there were activities for each grade.

2009 Rake-a-Thon Complete!

After a rain delay, student, staff and parents at St. Raphael's took up their rakes and set out to rake neighborhood yards.  See photos below.

Nearly 400 boxes of cereal collected to help the sick!

Students have brought in a hoard of cereal to donate to Helping Hands, an organization that delivers meals to seriously ill people.  Ms. Steinhauser's First Grade class brought the most boxes per child (3.9), and will receive a pizza party for their outstanding work!  Mrs. Harris' 7-8th grade class took second and Mrs. DeVeau's 5-6th class grade took third.

Rake-A-Thon Underway

Ms. AutumnA visit from Ms. Autumn began this year's Rake-A-Thon.  

Ms. Autumn challenged each student to say the Rake-a-thon prayer, put on their t-shirt and start asking family, friends and neighbors to pledge them for this service project.
